Foothills Forage & Grazing: continuing ed for stockmen by Lee Gunderson January, 2010
About 40 Alberta stockmen gathered for a winter seminar held December 3 at the Wheatland County Office. The Foothills Forage & Grazing Association is one of the oldest of its kind dating back to 1971. Laura LaBrash is the new secretary/manager and they assembled informative speakers and a lively agenda which ended with a tour of Rod Vergouwen's bale/swath winter grazing program east of Strathmore. FFGA has a new office at High River.
Most interesting is that cattlemen get to meet informally, ask questions, review different grazing methods and forage mixes and see practical solutions to some often vexing problems. It's a chance to share experiences and perhaps pick up a few tips that will help your bottom line.
